St. Jude
- 03/09/2009

A fund-raising event benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital was held during the week of February 2-6, 2009, at Belaire High School. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, located in Memphis, Tennessee, is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases.
A grand total of $2046.50 was raised by collecting funds in a homeroom competition. Students and their families generously donated dollars on five consecutive mornings. Homerooms competed for the privilege of a free dress day and a pancake breakfast.
Several homeroom classes were in the top five each day, but Mr. Rodriquez Taylor’s homeroom collected $ 443.98 to win the week long competition. Ms. Oby’s homeroom was such a close second collecting $423.73 that they too were rewarded. They enjoyed a breakfast from McDonald’s on the morning of February 13, 2009 , and will be given a St. Jude tee shirt and certificate of appreciation in the weeks to come.
